Years ago, back in the 1930’s, Dr. Francis Pottenger, M.D., was doing research into why tuberculosis was so rampant. He simply asked himself the question: Does the cooking of food affect our immune system? He knew that there were 10 basic “bugs” in our body that were involved with good health and immunity. But he also knew that TB was rampant, and simply wondered if our “good bugs” were being destroyed/mutated according to Dr. Rife’s, M.D. work with his electron microscope and nutrition research, and allowing the “bad bugs”, like TB to “spread”. His question led him from realizing that not only were your adrenal glands and thyroid responsible for keeping your immune system strong, but also how you fed your adrenals and thyroid and the rest of your system. Dr. Pottenger’s “Cooked Food Thesis” was born.

What does this mean? Simply this. Every food we eat, fresh food that is, has enzyme systems in it. These enzymes are “sparks” which make the food work to nourish our bodies. Good fresh food, good nutrition—vitamins, minerals, etc.—for our body. So why is Dr. Pottenger’s research reported in his book Pottenger’s Cats, so practical for us? Because he found that when a food is overcooked, meaning its enzymes are destroyed—denatured is the biochemical term—then your body goes into “shock” mode. It sees that you have put something in it that is” too much” for your digestion to handle, and your immune system “kicks in” to protect your body. That’s the good news. The bad news is that your body is now fighting to keep your systems functioning normally. Your white blood cell count goes up. This is your first line of defense. Dr. Kouchikoff’s studies showed this years ago that overcooked food increases your white blood cell count. Solution? Eat a serving of raw food/vegetables when you eat cooked food.
